These films will have you laughing to keep from crying, but if you’re up for it then you should check out some of the best B movies that have been streamed on Netflix.
Bird Box (2018)
Bird Box, the film that went viral on social media, was watched by 45 million people the first week it came out. Even though the Netflix Original went viral, and was a huge Netflix hit, it is not that great. Starring Sandra Bullock, the film depicts a woman and her two children as she attempts to get them to safety in a post-apocalyptic world. They are all blindfolded and she tells her children that they will die if they take off the blindfold. What makes the movie somewhat entertaining is the bad special effects, the cheesy acting from good actors, and the shockingness of the plot, itself. Bird Box was rated 5.7 out of 10 on Rotten Tomatoes, with many critics saying that the film never quite reached its intriguing potential.
Friend Request (2016)
Friend Request is a supernatural horror film about social media becoming a college student’s worst nightmare. It is somewhat based on the novel of the same name by Laura Marshall. The movie depicts a young woman who unfriends a mysterious girl on social media, then she ends up taking on a demonic presence that’s out to get her to kill all of her closest friends. Critics have called the movie one of the goofiest internet horror stories ever. With a rating of one star on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie cost about $10 million to make and grossed $11.3 million.
Before I wake (2016)
The Netflix Original, Before I Wake, is a supernatural dark fantasy horror film. This is a film that was released in 2016, however, it was supposed to be released a year prior, but was left on the shelf to gather dust. The movie is about a couple who loses a child and ends up taking in a young boy who is terrified of falling to sleep because he has dreams that manifest in reality as he sleeps. The movie is flawed, but it has a good plot and good reviews. With a 6/10 star rating, more people recommended the film than not. Critics stated that the film had good actors, strong performances, and a few plot holes, but was definitely worth watching.
The Bye Bye Man (2017)
The Bye Bye Man, the horror film with a one star rating on Rotten Tomatoes, sounds like a toddler gave it its name. The Bye Bye Man is centered around college students as they experience odd things happening in their new apartment. They soon learn that it’s a freaky monster who is responsible for wreaking havoc on their lives. Many people said that this film was nothing but a bad knock off of The Ring. The film is so predictable and just like every other horror film that’s come out in recent years. The Bye Bye Man is definitely worth a few laughs and once it’s over, it won’t leave you wanting more. Even though the film was really bad, it’s one of the better B movies on Netflix. The film cost $7.4 million to make and grossed $26.7 million worldwide.
Even though B movies sometimes get a bad reputation, a lot of them are actually very good movies. Netflix has done a great job of featuring some really good B movies over the years, giving them a chance to shine. I don’t know about you, but I love Netflix! They have come a long way with their movies and Netflix Originals. When I am not watching Netflix, you can find me online playing addicting games at Pokerstarscasino or Kiloo. When I’m done, it doesn’t take me too long to open up Netflix to see what new movies they’ve added. Whether it’s a B movie or a new Netflix Original, you can find me in front of my TV or computer ready to tune in.
